Not the Rod !

In the 23rd psalm, David makes the statement, "Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." The rod was used to ward off predators, but it was also used to discipline the wayward sheep. The sheep must know that the shepherd can protect them. The Word says, "Spare the rod and spoil the child." This was a great debate for many years. Should parents discipline their children? Yes !! The results are plain when the children are not disciplined, they rarely do the right thing.

There is comfort in knowing God is disciplining His children, for if He didn't, we wouldn't belong to Him. Have you also heard the term, God doesn't spank the devils children. If God gives you the 'rod' then He is your parent, if not then you are an orphan in the world, for the devil doesn't really care about his kids. God will keep you out of danger, and lead you in the right way to go.
